GREAT BEGINNINGS THAT WILL SNAG AGENTS, EDITORS AND READERS

Need help with your opening pages? Beckie Weinheimer and Karen Fisher-Baird, both graduates of the Vermont College of Fine Art MFA program in Writing for Children and Young Adults, have teamed up to consult on the beginning of your novel using the same techniques the used in their recent New England SCBWI Presentation.  GREAT BEGINNINGS

We will give you notes on your first sentence and opening paragraph and line edits on your entire submission.

In a one-hour virtual meeting with both of us, you’ll receive a consultation on incorporating the elements of plot, character, voice, setting, tone, theme, and genre throughout your novel. Once you have a strong beginning, you’ll have the tools to carry it throughout your work.

Let us help you craft the best beginning tailored to your specific needs. Submit the first 25 pages of your novel and a one-to-two-page synopsis.

After we’ve read and edited your pages, schedule an hour-long virtual meeting with both of us to discuss what’s working and what could use tweaks, and how to incorporate the elements throughout your work.

Once you’ve revised your first ten pages, resubmit for a final review via email—all for $250.

Testimonials:

No one knows how to add sensory detail to writing like Beckie Weinheimer does. But even more importantly, she infuses heart into every story she touches.  I avoid sending out manuscripts without her review first!” – Moira Rose Donohue, author of over fifty children’s books

Beckie and I have given numerous workshops and classes together. Not only does she know her craft, she is able to teach with such grace and inspiration — and fun! She cares so much about each writer and his or her project, and has great advice and useful exercises to share. Although we’re peers, I’ve learned a lot from Beckie to improve my own work.” –Kathryn Erskine National Book Award Winner and author of five seven books for young adults.
